Topic:
The Life of a Security Manager
Synopsis:
The typical security manager for a medium-sized
company has a hard life. This person is asked to perform a
high number of fairly daunting tasks that include highly
technical tasks. However, the security manager is also asked
to perform duties that go well outside the realm of simple
technical expertise. The administrative tasks (working with
and training security employees as well as other company
employees, presenting to executives, writing policy, dealing
with vendors, etc) that the security manager must perform,
while necessary for a holistic security posture, are also
taxing and distracting. This presentation will show many (but
not all) of the responsibilities of the security manager who
is often short-staffed and underpaid. And it will hopefully
present some possible answers for making this a better
situation.
